Lead Generation - What Is Lead Generation?

Lead generation is often seen as the dirty work with regards to building an effective business. This however is not true. Lead generation is literally the life blood of your business and a skill you need to learn. After all where would any business be without customers.

Another fallacy is that lead generation is expensive. Don't get me wrong it can be if you go certain routes with it, but it certainly doesn't have to be. There are simple and effective ways to do lead generation that doesn't break your bank if you are willing to put some elbow grease into it and learn the techniques.

So what is lead generation? Simply put it's looking for clients and customers. And those leads come in different ways and degrees of potential.

For instance there are cold leads, these are people that you have not had contact with. There are warm leads which are people that have responded to a request, whether it's to respond back to you, or people who have visited your website and are on your Tour Taker list. Hot leads would be people that have responded, joined the Yahoo discussion group and are kicking the tires so to speak.

All the lead types need follow through, but different kinds of follow through, and these are the skills you need to learn.
